Portal is the second installation I’ve made in this way (The first was Pathway in 2021). It was commissioned for the entrance to a Fantasy Medieval themed wedding. This work was named for its function as a portal to the past, literally described as “a feeling like entering Narnia, pushing past the fur coats.” The colors were chosen by the bride and groom to match their decor colors, and it worked beautifully in the space. One specific intention of this piece was to obscure the viewers sight into the space, allowing a journey or transformation to take place. The installation itself shifts through colors to achieve this goal, changing your experience as you pass through it.
